The most important thing to do with information about the limitations of human reasoning is to realize, to admit, to fully and completely accept that those limitations apply to us as well, and take whatever steps we can devise to counteract our own blind biases. We all have things that we wish were true, but that aren't.
The truth will set you free. But first it will really piss you off.
As for me, I'm pretty sure that all my beliefs are rock solid and incontrovertible. And I'm sure all we liberals feel the same. (BTW: So do all the MAGA crowd people.)

(90,335 posts)... experience is to make sure to give the facts and not soft data from mulitple independent and credintialed sources and left leaning people would change their minds.
A good portion of the right also would at the least shut up with their stupid

(7,911 posts)I do recall reading some years ago that when presented with information that contradicted a previously held belief, conservatives tend to respond with an attitude of "that's not true" while liberals tend to respond with an attitude of "I wonder if that's true." Liberals certainly seem to me to be more open-minded.
