And then there were the amazing people who said that Obama was a fascist communist atheist Muslim.

Not joking, they lead every conversation about Hitler with Socialist. When you bring up how he killed Communists, gays, and Liberals in general along with Jews, they just don't accept it.

And something I believe actual historians have downplayed for generations is how religious (Christian) the Nazis were. Their whole philosophy was around their twisted take on the bible. Hitler never gave speeches without including multiple bible quotes. The highest honor a German soldier could receive was the Cross of Iron. They wore crosses on their uniforms and Christian symbology was abundant throughout their propaganda and decor.

People will say they were into the occult, and maybe there's some evidence of that, but the driving force behind their movement was no doubt Christianity. The Nazis were moved to action by their faith. Of course I doubt Hitler was all that religious, but he knew exactly what to say to make it seem like he was chosen by god to lead his people.

Although he clearly wasn't, the goal of the claim is to promote this syllogism:

1. Hitler was an atheist.
2. Hitler was evil.
3. Therefore, atheists are evil.

The fallacy can be illustrated thusly:

1. Hitler was a vegetarian.
2. Hitler was evil.
3. Therefore, vegetarians are evil.

But to Trump's crowd, your broken syllogisms simply prove, logically, that all vegetarian atheists are evil, Hitler loving Nazis.

Hey, they -- Trump's slobbering faithful -- voted for the greatest president of all time, the dude who needs never ask for forgiveness from god because, c'mon, what would he want to be forgiven for? (Trump actually made that claim, and still they follow him.)

more closely, you will find that Hitler and those closest to him did not believe in Christian theology. But like many people who seek absolute rule, they presented themselves as having God on their side. A bit like extremists everywhere who use religion for political domination, e.g. Trump and evangelicals, and terrorists who use their faith to justify political jihads.

There were 3 Christian leaders known for their opposition to Nazis, and many more unknown ones who worked with them. Martin Niemoller, Lutheran pastor, wrote the well known words "First they came for the Communists...." He was one of 3 men who founded the "confessing church" in opposition to the Nazi ruled "German Christian" church. Pastor Niemoller was arrested and survived 2 concentration camps.

Carl Barth was a German Swiss Reformed church theologian teaching and preaching in Bonn, Germany. He wrote a letter of opposition that he sent to Hitler. Removed from his post, he returned to Switzerland, where he assisted Christians inside Germany in their Nazi opposition.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor who opposed Nazis before they came to power. He opposed the Nazi state takeover of Christian churches and founded an emergency program for pastors threatened by Nazis. Ran an underground "seminary" to train opposition clergy. Preached against Nazi euthanasia of "imperfect people" and genocidal attacks on Jews.

Bonhoeffer went to the US in 1939 to avoid conscription in the Nazi army. But he returned because he believed it was his moral duty to stand with the German people in order to lead reconstruction afterward. He was executed in a concentration camp 2 days before liberation.

They'd point out that it stood for "National Socialist German Workers' Party", and that was the extent of their knowledge.

Never mind how the Nazis actually operated, and their backing by industrialists.

They like SIMPLE answers, without much research.

Edit:
If Republicans were instead called the "Grand Old Socialist Party", and behaved the same as they do now, they would still be capitalist-promoting fascists.

of a political party. To Germans at the time, socialist and workers seemed to signify that the Party represented the interests of the working class.

Now let's equate that name with the "Republican Party" or what's become of it -- for the Repubs in the Senate and the House, and certainly the White House, it's beginning to sound more like the Trump as Dictator Party.

He went on about the NYPD union cop hooting and hollering. I said yeah its a diversion, now by law they can't hide records on bad cops. NY passed 50A. I said a cop the lies and commits perjury should be fired they can and will be impeached in every court case, trial, proceeding, arrest. They are useless for enforcement. loaded with RW lies, but this one especially so. Antifa = fascism.

The loyal right, knows "fascist" = bad, but not that it's archconservative extremism. So their own increasingly fascistic leaders give them cartoons and people who read the line that fascism is almost impossible to define and anyway the fascist states were in Europe and destroyed by WWII.

And for people who googled "liberal" and "fascists" and found nothing, a book was written called..."Liberal Fascism"! None of them actually need to read the book, of course. The title and the cartoons confirm all they need to know. They must stop us!

It does not cause a fight.

Say it with a normal tone. Walk away. They are the one left thinking.
