Second-- this is pushing the military into political areas where it shouldn't be, and where it doesn't want to go.

Not good because this sort of thing never ends well. MacArthur's constant criticism of Truman during the Korean War ended with the destruction of both him and Truman after he got fired. It ended with the election of Ike, who stopped the war.

Which was, I suppose, a good outcome after all.
