San Jose cops shoot their own racial sensitivity trainer in the testicles at protest. On purpose.

https://www.rawstory.com/2020/06/san-jose-cops-rupture-testicle-of-their-own-bias-trainer-in-violent-response-to-protests/

Derrick Sanderlin has for years trained San Jose police recruits how to avoid implicit bias against racial minorities, but the 27-year-old was shot in the groin by a rubber bullet fired by one of the department’s officers — causing his testicle to rupture, reported KGO-TV.

...

Sanderlin then headed over to City Hall, where he saw officers shooting rubber bullets at protesters — and he again intervened.

“I really just couldn’t watch it anymore,” Sanderlin said, “and just kind of made like a parallel walkover, put my hands up, and just stood in the line of the fire and asked them to please not do this.”

Video shows Sanderlin standing about 10 to 15 feet away from police with his hands raised, but officers shot him anyway with less-lethal bullets.

“I stepped into the line of fire, and a couple of cops said, ‘Move,’” Sanderlin recalled. “I said, with my hands up, ‘I can’t do that, please don’t do this.’ Another cop came up behind them, pointed directly at me, and said, ‘Move.’”

“He fired off a rubber bullet, and I realized he wasn’t aiming for my chest,” he added. “I was hit directly in the groin.”

When the black Cambridge professor used his shoulder to push open a sticky front door on his own home he got arrested for breaking and was booked. The icy beer summit Obama arranged between the professor and cop did not play well in the media. The uppity professor and black President needed to be knocked down a notch or two. And that was before things really got bad like they are today.

That is why we have this ---->

The problem is that there are too many people even liberals who have the mentality of putting blame for abuse on the abused.

How could so many like-minded individuals end up as cops in so many police departments throughout the country? Gee, it's like they're creating these "first responders" in some secret government laboratory, or something. Surely it's not a concerted effort to create some sort of violent police state?

From the article linked in the OP:

ETA:

That officer didn't know the person he shot has connections or that he knows the San Jose police chief personally.

For three years, Derrick Sanderlin has helped train new police recruits about implicit bias and procedural justice. He wonders now if that work was in vain.

If the ones who targeted him were among those he trained, they had to recognize him and shot him anyway - in an area that is specified to NOT shoot with rubber bullets. I hope he can win a civil suit even if no criminal charges are filed.

when they're hired on elsewhere.

There could be a national registry of the lawless ones, and federal laws prohibiting them being rehired away from their crime scenes.

Something for a Democratic congress to consider when Joe Biden is President.

Were the protests violent? Were the protesters attacking the police? What the cops are showing is that they are incapable of handling non-lethal weapons. The cop who shot at him should be arrested. Maybe if enough police are put in jail, this shit will stop.

Nearly 16 years ago to the day, I was involved in a major firefight in a suburb of Baqubah, the community of Burhiz.

Friendly forces had set up a position in a three story building behind me while my platoon was maneuvering on and engaging enemy outside. A guy who was on the roof of the building behind me was firing a high powered 40 mm grenade launcher, pointed the barrel too low, fired a round, the round hit the waist-high concrete wall immediately in front of him, and ricocheted and hit him directly in the groin

Fortunately the round didn’t travel the minimum arming distance so it didn’t explode on him, but it was fired with enough force to shoot a toilet paper tube sized grenade 1/2 a mile or so.

I used my Bradley Fighting Vehicle I was in to evacuate the guy and he couldn’t even move out of the fetal position on the stretcher he was on. My guess, it hurt a lot.

I’ve got a war story for everything...

There are probably different types and I don't know whether those aholes weren't trained correctly or whether that is in line with their guidelines. Either way, they are going for max damage instead of just trying to disperse crowds. And shooting at someone's testicles deliberately from close range should leave no doubt how utterly inept these pigs are for this job.
I have no clue why they shouldn't get fired and charged. It's obvious that they are a danger to society and that they should get locked away.
