In the wake of protests against police brutality, Cameron Welch, an 18-year-old, shared a video on TikTok listing all the instructions he has to follow when he goes out.
Excerpt:
Dont put your hands in your pockets.
Dont put your hoodie on.
Dont be outside without a shirt on.
Check in with your people, even if youre down the street.
Dont be out too late.
Dont touch anything youre not buying.
Never leave the store without a receipt or a bag, even if its just a pack of gum.
Never make it look like theres an altercation between you and someone else.
Never leave the house without your ID.
...skip...
Dont stare at a Caucasian woman.
If a cop stops you randomly and starts questioning you, dont talk back, just compromise.
If you ever get pulled over, put your hands on the dashboard and ask if you can get your license and registration out.

(66,313 posts)1. Not that it matters.
Black teens have followed all the 'rules', and still been shot to death by some shit cop.

(16,616 posts)4. Yes, I just read about a case where a black motorist specifically asked the officer
if he could get out his wallet and was told "yes" and when he did reach for his wallet he was shot.

if your white friends start to act stupid, separate. You will be the perceived guilty one.

Who has been discussing this very thing with my 13 yr old grandson this morning. I think this will be a good thing for her to show him. Thanks for posting!
