The old lie, the confederacy, the South, fought for honor is finally being torn down. The South is also going to lose when it comes to the virus. It's already happening.
The fools, the liars of America are finally meeting their fate.

(10,171 posts)couldn't keep these worshippers away from their churches. In all fairness, one could make the same statement about every football conference, college or pro, but it's more of a state religion in the South.

(10,171 posts)university presidents (the smart guys?) may be forced to cancel the season. The rending of garments among the football faithful will be truly biblical. If not being able to get a haircut or go to the beach caused such a ruckus, shuttering their football stadiums may spark another Civil War.

(6,930 posts)There are increases in Oregon, California, Utah, Arizona. And I am quite sure there will be plenty coming across the US soon enough. Good to know your feelings for all the good Dems living in the south, the African Americans and Hispanics who are most at risk though. Wow, just wow.

(11,261 posts)We have more people living in large cities than the entire population of some red states. I don't watch Fox and have been very well informed. Not lied to.

(6,930 posts)Have you paid any attention to where some of these bigoted assholes live? How about the guy in New Jersey who re-enacted the Floyd murder? That is just one of dozens of examples. The hate and stereotyping of one region on this board is astounding. And revealing.

(4,379 posts)The Northeast and upper Midwest are doing better. I don't know why California is seeing a big increase. They were doing a good job.

(6,930 posts)I just want to understand on whom you are wishing this disease. I wish this virus on no one. And referring to it as some kind of divine retribution sure puts me in mind of various others on the other side of the political spectrum. Smh.
Please keep in mind what groups are most at risk from this horrible disease before you go wishing it on particular regions,of our country.

(29,322 posts)We are known for Sheriff Joe & Russell Pearce. We also elected Doug Ducey (not me I voted for Sinema & David Garcia) who is probably mishandling the CORONA virus.

(12,651 posts)There are too many people who are used to either buying their way or bullshitting their way through situations. They refuse to allow for the fact the world doesn't revolve around them or their clique. The most recent spike was the Memorial Day weekend. I expect spikes whenever we have beach weather, not to mention any other major reason to gather.
California is also testing more, so more reported cases are not unexpected.

(19,062 posts)I post on a bi-partisan board and get accused of cheering for new cases by simply pointing out what's happening in those states that opened too early. I mean, what did people think was going to happen? Do people honestly think social distancing is a made up concept to hurt Trump?
Florida, Texas, NC, and AZ all opened too quickly, exactly what everyone knew would happen is happening.
Georgia is a bit of an exception, but it's not as good there as it could have been. People seem to think that the shutdowns weren't necessary, but none of them can back it up.

(6,930 posts)Governor Cooper there is a Democratic governor, and he has done a fantastic job. Because of him, thank god, the hatemongers will not be holding their hatefest in Charlotte, which, by the way, is a blue city with an African American Democratic mayor.

(6,930 posts)This is in reference to people dying of a disease. You do not see hate? What do you call that? Never mind the number of at risk people that the op is wishing to die of an awful disease. If it is not hate, I really cannot imagine what it is.
I am bookmarking this thread. Should be interesting in a couple weeks. Wonder what state the op lives in? The state where he has repeatedly stated he is afraid to return to work?

(11,949 posts)Both of us totally anti-trump and anti-DeSantis, are we just 2 more fools and liars?
Florida is a swing state. We voted for Obama twice. Lot of good democrats are going to die.

(1,977 posts)The decisions that were made by elected people that were put into office year after year after decade after decade in these places are getting what they wanted from their leadership. On a personal level yeah it sucks that people are dying. It is absolutely horrifying that people are getting caught up in the piss poor decisions made out of spite..... But what are you going to do about it? We keep trying to win the majority over down there and we commit resources and time and effort and get called baby killers, commies, socialists, unamerican by MANY of the people in these areas. I visit florida and I don't know how many times I see shit like "the only good liberal is a dead liberal" or "The path to hell is paved with dead democrats".
I feel bad for the innocents. I feel bad for the people that cannot get out of there and make a better life for themselves. But here's the thing. It is those shitty people that Hillary called deplorable that keep those people from getting a better life down there. And those people are getting what they voted for. No hate. Just the way it is.

(1,379 posts)People of all walks of life have made bad decisions when it comes to this virus, let's not pit victims against each other.
We were warned that the protests would spread the disease, and we are now more than two weeks out from the start of them, so it is disingenuous to blame this 100% on reopening of States, or even Fox News watching idiots.

Gone with the Wind - being well gone
The South lost - but hey who's keeping score
The Confederacy - many good people on both sides of the Civil War
The Virus - Well uh if you catch it don't blame me or sue. Haha losers
Can't wait for the fallout from this train wreck.

(7,411 posts)"How the South Won the Civil War: Oligarchy, Democracy, and the Continuing Fight for the Soul of America," released in March of this year. I have it waiting in my Kindle library until I finish a work assignment involving another history book. That ends in June and I will be diving into Richardson's book then.

(58,785 posts)Anywhere from a 25-40% of southerners routinely vote liberal, and most of America's black people live in the south. Many, many, many tens of millions of people.
Just days ago it was cheering the people in the streets of hundreds of southern towns. Maybe today try to remember they still live here, and even that southern lives matter, when cheering how The South is "losing again" and "finally meeting their fate?"

(58,785 posts)Most of us claim to reject anger- and fear-driven hostility directed against whole peoples. We too often fail to live to our own standards, though, and encouraging failure is not helpful.
It doesn't have to be a moral issue for those not feeling it. It can be pure self interest. Without the South's liberal Democrats, regardless of race, it would also be they who met their fate.

(54,370 posts)Their nemisis is not Yankees, Libbruls, or George Soros.
This time it is a virus who doesn't care one whit whether or not they vote Republican, go to church on Sunday, fly the Confederate battle flag or support the troops.
The virus will be a danger if they ignore protective measures, and will be less of one if they adhere to protective measures. Acts of "defiance," such as not wearing masks or distancing will only make them feel good until an infection occurs. If it does, it is already too late to say "sorry, I won't do it again." NO ONE has the luxury of putting in for a second chance, and with the limited medical facilities outside of the big cities, there will be some serious suffering for their unwillingness to follow sensible procedures.
And those unfortunate people who end up suffering due to their arrogance and ignorance will STILL blame Yankees, Libbruls, and George Soros.
