Former Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino to be imploded, mayor says

It's a start--now to expunge the rest of his existence....

https://www.fox29.com/news/former-trump-plaza-hotel-and-casino-to-be-imploded-mayor-says

ATLANTIC CITY - The building that formerly held the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino for more than three decades will be imploded, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small confirmed during a Thursday conference.

Since ending operations in September of 2014, the building has fallen into a dangerous state of disrepair. Several instances have been reported citing chunks of building falling onto the tourist city below. City officials say a net will be placed around the building to catch falling debris.

Small says the plan is to implode the building's two large towers which will subsequently bring down the rest of the structure. A demolition date has not been set yet, but Small hopes to expedite the processes.

This news comes after a judge order building owners Icahn Enterprises in March to submit plans for the dilapidated structure within 45 days. Representatives told city officials last week that they planned on destroying the building, which was built in 1984.

The ban on it didn't go into effect until the middle of 1989.
Alternative fireproofing was still WAY more expensive than asbestos in 1984.
I have no doubt they kept things cheap! Geez, they bought $1,400 grand pianos! Even 36 years ago, that was a piece of junk grand piano.
On the asbestos thing: I know some people in the implosion business.
With older buildings, after the building is down, they send certified asbestos guys from Laborers and treat every piece of debris as if it's asbestos. It literally adds 40% to the actual cost of the demolition! The disposal costs are enormous.

Canada was the main supplier of asbestos into the US (they even named a town Asbestos, Canada) before the ban (2012).

After that Russia was second and other SU countries were very large producers.

China was the third largest producer of asbestos, but less than half of Canada (900 tons vs 400 tons) but even more to the point China was the largest consumer of asbestos.

I recall (but may not be accurate) that within the last 12 months Trump overturned regulations that prohibited Russian asbestos being imported to the US.

That's a another "monument" so to speak that will have great symbolic meaning when it comes down.

All that money laundering, mob involvement and the famous Trump Bankruptcies, (face it, he wins anyway when he files for it and the money laundering is probably the payoff) are represented in his buildings.

I'll take some tickets, myself in that raffle

If you notice while the orange asshole has always been a nut job, once he lost the casino, he really took a nose dive mentally.

I think the imploding of his former casino is an apt metaphor for is life and the path it’s taken since he lost it

I made more money at that casino in any other, and I’ve played Atlantic City since the gambling was passed in New Jersey way back in the late 70s. They had of course the table games were like everybody else’s table games, but if you knew where the hot slots were, you could make a fortune. And I did. The machine was called Double Dribble, a two coin machine. Ah the memories.

He’s still a prick.
