Sanders Dismisses Progressive Calls to Defund Police, Says Departments Need More Resources

https://news.yahoo.com/sanders-dismisses-progressive-calls-defund-195628874.html

Senator Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) broke from progressive counterparts in calls to defund the police, saying instead that the country needs “well-trained, well-educated, and well-paid professionals in police departments.”

Sanders addressed progressive critics who viewed him as an obstacle to growing calls for defunding the police in the wake of national unrest following the death of George Floyd in a New Yorker interview published Tuesday.

“Do I think we should not have police departments in America? No, I don’t. There’s no city in the world that does not have police departments,” He stated.

They need shrinking and proof of previous resources going to the needy.

People avert their eyes because they do not want to see it, it does not jibe well with the left progressive persona he likes to present.

He voted for the 1994 crime bill his campaign used to denounce Mrs. Clinton for making a speech in support of. He says there were other things in it he liked, but a vote is a vote, and it is not like the thing would not have passed had he stood on his hind legs and voted Nay. He cast the vote that was a popular vote in Connecticut, as were his various votes in alignment with the NRA during his career. Where people get the idea he is a man of principal quite escapes me. He trims like any other politician.

But, around DC that word is code for it more often than not.
