(2,995 posts)And they took it as a challenge. I know Trump is worse and I just accept that as bad as he is, the Republicans can find someone worse than him.

Romney might even be eyeing another run. I don't quite put him in the same category though as he has a slight shred of humanity.

(272 posts)He is a war criminal, first and foremost, despite the shinier veneer than Trump.
Disappointed in Ellen and Michelle there, but understand they are public figures too and need to choose their battles. But I think firmly shunning a war monger, with the blood of millions on his head is warranted.

(272 posts)I am aware of the heated debate. My position is he added so much to the world with his gorgeous music, such that the world will lose something without it.
My personal opinion is that if he lived through Nazism he would not have supported it. Also, I am ok with "punishing him" by forgetting his name and just attributing the music to an unkown 19th century german composer, but shunning his sublime art is inconceivable to me.

(17,136 posts)A few soaring moments perhaps, otherwise very predictable, 'germanic' and long. Conservative, in other words.
Try, for comparison, Mozart Piano Concerto No. 10,, k. 365. Interestingly, some psychologists say that listening to classical music increases your I.Q. and this piece has proven to be the most effective.

For some reason I was always more attached to the Shubert/Wagner/Bruckner branch of musical ideas culminating in Mahler. Beethoven is a unique island that does not exactly fit with the shubertian tradition, but he appeals to me also.
I have neglected Mozart in my youth, other than the staple operas like Figaro and magic flute, sym 40, etc. Recently I am revisiting him and finding much richness in his piano sonatas.

There is going to be somebody coming who is has the same dangerous ideas but be much more effective at accomplishing their goals without ending up with wide public outcry.
Trump is his own worst enemy, somewhere out there the next fascist is taking notes.
