Is Trump trying to provoke interracial violence by holding a rally in Tulsa on Juneteenth?

It appears to me that Trump believes racial strife is his best hope of re-election. He is hoping to stir up the white supremacists by igniting a response from African Americans. Shameful on his part and shame on the Republican Party, the party of Lincoln?

I doubt he knows any of the history. Stephen Miller probably told him it would be good for his law and order( loud dog whistle) campaign.

The MAGAs didn't come through to start the race war he'd called them to a couple of weeks ago, the few who did screwed it up by doing it in plain sight where we could all see them, and the good guys didn't take the bait, so now he's stepping things up.

I mean, I would like to help, watch, support, participate in some real Juneteenth celebrations. Maybe we can just drown out this rally.

I don't live there now and don't know what they're doing in response to COVID. It's held around Black Wall Street close to downtown Tulsa.

Trump does not give a shit because he's a right-wing narcissistic psychopathic elitist racist.

Per Kyle Griffin.....

Trump's address in Jacksonville coincides with one of the darkest days in the city's history: The 60th anniversary of "Ax Handle Saturday," when a white mob organized by the KKK attacked mostly black civil rights protesters at whites-only lunch counters.

Trump Will Give Convention Speech in Jacksonville, Capping a Dispute Over Safety
The move from Charlotte, N.C., where the Republican convention was originally planned, came after the president demanded to hold an event without social distancing rules.

The event for Mr. Trump in Jacksonville, not in Charlotte, N.C., as planned, coincides with one of the darkest days in the city’s history. The president will address his supporters on the 60th anniversary of “Ax Handle Saturday,” when a white mob organized by the Ku Klux Klan attacked mostly black civil rights protesters sitting at the city’s whites-only lunch counters. The attackers hid ax handles in the brush at Hemming Park, said Alan Bliss, the executive director of the Jacksonville Historical Society.

The city’s white mayor at the time, Haydon Burns, suppressed news about the beatings, Dr. Bliss said, and it was not until 2001 that the day was commemorated with a marker, paid for by the historical society, at the park. The current mayor, Lenny Curry, a Republican, removed a bronze Confederate soldier statue from the same park this week.

It was not clear that the historical resonance of the date for the city, which is about 30 percent African-American, was known to Republican officials before its selection.

Of course they didn't know because they don't care enough to study history and give a shit. They're a bunch of selfish, self-centered assholes.

We shall see. The BLM protests backfired for them, they were sure that the takeaway from them would be that minorities and protesters were out of control and needed to be met with force, but what the nation saw was peaceful protesters and an out of control police force.

So Trump is doing all he can to bring the riots to them. Trump wants a bloodbath for the cameras and he really doesn't care who gets hurt.

The area close to Black Wall Street, where the Juneteenth celebrations are is within walking distance - more of a light hike - of the BOK Center where Trump is speaking. Far be it for me - a White guy, no longer living there - to say what the Black community of Tulsa and its allies should do, but a large crowd of peaceful protesters lining the streets - or in more visible areas - and taking a knee during Trump's rally would be a hell of a visual.

Of course. It is unlikelythe choice of venue and date was an accident. And even if so, there has been time to change it.

There will be a LARGE group of protesters who will be there early and until he leaves town. There will be a lot of really scary white people there to see their leader. I see them every day and they are not very bright and armed to the teeth. I fear for protesters because the Tulsa police are not friendly towards anyone who doesn't love Trump.
