Prison Pipeline statistics

Just heard on Ellen:

👮🏽?♀️America has the highest rate of incarceration in the world—6 million people are on probation or parole; 132 million people in the country have family members in jail or prison.

👮🏽?♀️In the 70s 300,000 people were in jail; now 6 times that—or 2 million are jailed.

👮🏽?♀️One in three black boys will end up in jail.

👮🏽?♀️Black defendants are 11 times more likely to get the death penalty.

👮🏽?♀️Some are serving life sentences for benign offenses such as writing a bad check for $50 or possessing marijuana.
