Torrance police have identified a woman they believe is involved in a series of verbal, racially laced rants directed at people of Asian descent.

A protest/workout session condemning one of the tirades, which went viral on social media Thursday, was held at Wilson Park on Friday morning.

Police are looking for Lena Hernandez, 56, possibly of Long Beach, police said Friday, a day after a video went viral on Twitter that showed a woman cursing and screaming racial epithets at a woman who identified herself as Filipino-American as she filmed her exercise routine.

The verbal tirades span thee incidents, one dating back to October at Del Amo Fashion Center, which included a physical altercation, and two more recently on the same day at Wilson Park, a popular workout spot, said Torrance Police Chief Eve Berg.

“This is awful,” Berg said. “This is disgusting. People shouldn’t have to go through something like that. At any time. At any place.”

I have not received a notice like that before and it came from my malware so I was surprised. I wonder if anyone else gets that.
