If, as we hope, she wins a second term, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez should devote energy and resources to constituent services, one area where her community is hungry for more of her attention. Her competitors in this years primary, including Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, a former Republican and CNBC journalist who says she wants to focus on jobs, have tried to capitalize on Ms. Ocasio-Cortezs national, rather than local, focus.
Ms. Ocasio Cortezs shortcomings as a community representative, which can be remedied if she puts her mind to it, are not reason enough to deny re-election to someone who has been such a determined champion of vulnerable people everywhere.

Do you just hate that "corporate media"?

(6,679 posts)She was elected to Congress based on the fact she stands on the side of what is right and decent. "Politicians" tend to play the game and I haven't seen any evidence AOC intends to do so.

(16,294 posts)Whats annoying is that Katie Porter is by far and away the most effective first term congresswoman in the bunch and gets almost no credit. Shes run circles around the squad with little fanfare.

I have nothing against Katie Porter. She's the progressive we need, along with The Squad.

(12,957 posts)Too bad about the snark commentary, but to address the point, the NYT does many things right, and it has done some amazingly horrible things, like for example their boosting the bullshit leading up to the Iraq war, their normalization of at least the first three years of the Trump administration, and the decision to publish Tom Cottons call for a military crackdown on citizens exercising their 1st amendment rights.
When they do something right, good for them. When they do something wrong, they suck.
