AP: White House eyes travel from Mexico as source of virus spike

I guess Trump can't blame Asians again for the second spike, because he has already banned travel from China, and he is already calling protesters thugs and terrorists, so why not throw in some racism and hate at Mexicans? He has to keep up the hate 24/7 even though the U.S. is still leading the world in COVID-19 cases and deaths.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is floating a theory that travel from Mexico may be contributing to a new wave of coronavirus infections, rather than states’ efforts to reopen their economies.

The notion was discussed at some length during a meeting of the administration’s coronavirus task force in the White House Situation Room Thursday that focused, in part, on identifying commonalities between new outbreaks, according to two administration officials familiar with the discussions.

COVID-19 cases are currently rising in nearly half of states across the country, according to an Associated Press analysis. That includes Arizona, where hospitals have been told to prepare for the worst, and Texas, which now has more hospitalized patients than ever.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was deploying teams to Arizona and other hotspots to try to trace the outbreaks and contain them, according to the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly describe internal conversations. CDC officials and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Couldn’t be that those folks are just denying the severity of the virus and flouting safeguards, so it MUST be some foreigners to blame.

Hoo boy.

Drumpf is going to get Hispanics and Latinx folks beaten up if he goes this route.

6. 'We just want to be safe': Hate crimes, harassment of Asian Americans rise

This is the Republican party, call it a hoax and deny, and when people start to die, find a scapegoat, then call it a day.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2020/05/20/coronavirus-hate-crimes-against-asian-americans-continue-rise/5212123002/

In California’s Alameda County, a Chinese American man was screamed at while mowing his lawn. The local prosecutor said the man was told to get out of America.

In neighboring Santa Clara County, a Vietnamese couple was threatened while in a grocery store. Officials said the man turned his hand into the shape of a gun.

In New York City, people of Asian descent were assaulted, kicked, pushed and accosted on subway trains.

The theme: This virus is your fault.

People of Asian descent have reported being shunned, verbally abused, name-called, coughed and spat on, even physically assaulted as the coronavirus pandemic continues to upend American life. As the political rhetoric blaming China for the pandemic escalates, law enforcement officials and human rights advocates have seen an increasing number of hate crimes and incidents of harassment and discrimination against Asian Americans.

That means Mexicans going to Mexico, Canadians going to Canada, Americans to the USA - only thing crossing borders regularly would be delivery drivers.
