(118,356 posts)A rich man dressed in fine clothes and lived in luxury, but at his door lay the beggar Lazarus, covered with scabs and hoping to eat whatever fell off the rich mans table.
Dogs came to lick his sores; and when the beggar died, angels carried him to Abraham.
The rich man also died.
From his torment in Hell, he saw Abraham far away with Lazarus beside him; and he begged, Have pity on me and send Lazarus to drip some cool water on my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.
Abraham replied, You received your good things in life, while Lazarus received bad. But now he is comforted and you suffer. And between you and us, a great chasm looms: no one, who wants to go to you from here, can; nor can anyone from there cross over to us.
The rich man said, Then please send Lazarus to warn my five brothers so that they will not end in this place of torment.
Abraham answered, Let them hear Moses and the Prophets.
The rich man said, They will repent if someone visits them from the dead.
But Abraham said, If they cannot hear Moses and the Prophets, even someone rising from the dead will not convince them

"Let me tell you," he continued. "If Jesus Christ gets down off the cross and told me Trump is with Russia, I would tell him, hold on a second, I need to check with the president if it is true. That is how confident I feel in the president."
