A suicidal convention

Trump is demanding that the Republican convention be held in an arena in Jacksonville, Florida. And my guess is that Republican senators, house members and state delegations will show up because they're too afraid not to.

Will there be masks? Will there be self-distancing? Not if Trump has his way.

Actually, I don't give a rat's ass about any of these people. If they're stupid enough to obey their fuhrer during a pandemic, they are acting like lemmings and doing their best to destroy themselves.

But those I pity are secret service and other security people who will be forced to be there. Those who work the jobs of running the arena will have to show up or, probably get fired. The same is true for everyone else associated with this insanity who will be forced to be there, including the media.

Trump is a prick who doesn't care about any of these people. IMO, everyone should say "fuck this," and stay home. But you just know that ain't gonna happen. That so many would put their health, and perhaps lives at risk to satisfy the ego of a madman is pure insanity.

Do you suppose the last night will include a corvid-19 shaped balloon drop?

After they leave, I have little doubt that they will leave a trail of destruction in their wake. They won't be happy with just using the arena. They will want bars and restaurants available to cater to their whims.

Republican Mayor and Governor will insist on showing all the hospitality and service workers will be put into the crosshairs again.

DeSantis has all but lifted any precautions, as has Florida's neighbor to the north. He's also suppressing infection and death numbers, making it appear that all is well. Which is likely not the case.

He became governor here through a questionable election -- thousands of Dem votes were "lost". Here in mostly Democratic South-East Florida, most people are wearing masks, and doing their best to maintain distance. Super market aisles have been made "one-way" to keep people as far apart as possible. Most stores won't let you in without a mask.

Yet, DeSantis can't move fast enough to open the state. He really believes that tourists are going to magically show up. Like Trump, he's an idiot who really doesn't give a rat's ass how many people die, as long as he can keep his base of idiots happy and "owning the libs."

Put bluntly, DeSantis is just one more Republican prick that we can't get rid of fast enough.

McMoron (South Carolina) is one of Trump's biggest bootlickers, and he's behaving the same way as DeSantis. I suspect that the "red" parts of Florida are looking a lot like what's going on here. He just rescinded yet another round of precautions today. I'm seeing fewer masks in the grocery stores, and people are ignoring any "one-way" markings that haven't already been removed. We had a record number of them "owning libs" this weekend. It's just a matter of time before there's a hospital bed shortage...

Unfortunately, the only way we're going to get rid of our asshole is via term limits, or if Mother Nature has her way with him.

Shiny mylar balloons with triangle shaped protusions, like a magenta ball with triangle tipped cobalt
blue spikes or a green one with orange spikes or a yellow one with ruby red spikes would be some cool looking virus balloons. Lol

I know it's off topic but the image of pretty covid shaped balloons sound actually cool looking.

Besides that sing, scream and shout magats. Go cram yourselves in tight, standing room only!

He's a sick sadistic corrupt criminal trying to act like a mobster demanding blind loyalty to him even if it means they risk their lives for him. This is a recipe for disaster for these people trump is conning into doing this, and I wonder how much more he's paying them to attend?

But it seems that no one is capable of stopping a madman in power.

The whole country should be demanding his immediate removal from office. Unfortunately, millions are still backing him and this is a reality beyond my comprehension.

We shouldn't even be talking about some kind of "close" election this year. We should be talking about the first candidate to lose 95% of the vote.

I guess America isn't what I always thought it was.
