Coach Gundy pictured wearing OAN shirt. I cannot post the link to the oklahoman but this just shows how much racism can hurt a sports program now. Good for Chubba Hubbard for using the power he has to make people listen. You know how much these racists love their football. The loss of Hubbard will cost OSU games no doubt.

Chuba Hubbard, a tailback who rushed for more than 2,000 yards last year, has spoken out on Twitter against Gundy after the coach was photographed wearing a One America News T-shirt.

(6,474 posts)it can get especially bad if the Head Coach gets on his soap box and leads the attacks. See Mike Leach at Texas Tech
The average college football fan is a blinded homer who just can't handle attacks against "his" university or its popular coach. His school is NEVER wrong-the NCAA or the Player is always out to get "his" team
It can be one of the more troubling aspects of college football-a game I love.
This kid though was probably a leading contender for Big 12 Player of the Year so this will reverberate around the region

(12,265 posts)This will quickly become a racial thing. Their coach is one of them so backing his views is easy. Not all OSU grads for sure, but this is the ag school, lots of rural fans who never set foot on campus to learn, they just come for the games.

(9,412 posts)football and basketball recruits refusing to go to schools that were in states not providing their AA populace unrestricted freedom to vote might change the racial dynamic in this backward country of ours in a hurry.
I still think its true.

(3,813 posts)I read a lot of sports message boards. A lot of white fans are calling for boycotts, saying they'll walk away, etc. Now, whether they actually do it is another question but I wouldn't put it past them. I know my RW brother in law has turned on a couple of teams he's followed all his life. That's not to say AA recruits shouldn't do it, but I don't know if white sports fans would automatically fall into line.

(6,474 posts)recruiting is the life blood of college football and basketball. Why do the best high school recruits end up in the SEC when there are only a handful of the representatives elected at the state-wide level who politically support their views in the Confederacy
Ex Lurker
(3,813 posts)I'm just saying southern good ole boy fans are quite capable of cutting off their nose to spite their faces. In the same way the talent pool has leverage, so does the audience in terms of ticket sales and TV ratings. Black lives dont matter to most of these people and if confronted with it they may turn their backs. I'm not saying Black athletes shouldn't take a stand. Not at all. Just that you can't lead a horse to water and I think it's optimistic that they'll change the attitudes of white southern football fans overnight or maybe at all.
It will be interesting to see if NASCAR takes a hit or if the fans don't really care that much about the confederzte flag.

(31,261 posts)Black players that are highly recruited should chose schools that value educating them. Kids should have a plan if they end up hurt so bad that they can no longer play. I can't count the number of times that I read about former LSU, Alabama, Clemson Black former players that didn't make it to the NFL and had no life skills, college did nothing for them. Those players were four and five star players in high school, with NFL dreams, I wish their parents had pushed their education in high school, so they could get into schools like Stanford or Harvard (H doesn't do scholarships, but if a blue chip high school player who qualified academically wanted in, the school would find enough financial aid). Those kids are going to be used as gladiators anyway, why not be at a school that is also educating them for a real economic future?
We need more parents like the parents of Senator Corey Booker (athletic scholarship at Stanford).

Players band together and refuse to play for Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, basically the entire SEC and in a few years this shit would stop.
Big10 and PAC12 start winning championships and the SEC and Southern Schools would get it together quick. Bear Bryant integrated Alabama teams because USC went out there and kicked ass.

Upon reporting back for testing and prior to training at OSU, I have tested positive for the Covid 19 virus, Rodriguez wrote on Twitter. I have been completely asymptomatic.
This message goes to urge that even though you may not exhibit symptoms, you may still be a carrier per the guidelines of the CDC. Please continue to use extreme caution when presenting yourself to any group gatherings that exist beyond the confines of your own home and surroundings.
