Police and her family confirmed the death Monday morning.
Salau was found dead Saturday night after she went missing more than a week ago, on June 6, family members told the Tallahassee Democrat, part of the USA TODAY Network.
Salau was one of two homicide victims discovered Saturday night in southeast Tallahassee, a couple miles from where she was last seen at a library.

She tweeted about being assaulted by someone meeting his description and he's got a history of abusing women. And so it continues.

(58,785 posts)finding herself alone and in need and going off with a man who offered shelter but seemed strange even to her.
The black part of this seems to be that Toyin was a young black woman who started out on the streets with others like her to protest the murder of George Floyd and demand reforms. Then this very young person somehow ended up on another street at a later time, alone.
On the face of it, this does seem to be the kind of tragedy that sometimes happens to women who leave the places where they can normally expect to be safe for places they cannot -- alone without the protection of friends.
Her death's now also extremely public, though, and if it is suspicious for happening very differently, that's going to become a controversy demanding the truth.

On Saturday night, Sims' body was found on Monday Road on Tallahassee's south side. She was one of two victims; the other was Oluwatoyin Salau, a 19-year-old local activist with the student social justice group Movement 850 and an ardent speaker in recent Black Lives Matter protests.
Victoria Sims, 75, a volunteer for AARP, was reported missing Saturday night. On Sunday, AARP officials confirmed she was dead, the victim of a homicide. Tallahassee police have arrested Aaron Glee Jr., 49, holding him as a suspect in both deaths.
The 75-year-old Sims was someone who "always had a smile on her face," according to a neighbor who asked not to be identified.
The neighbor, a woman, said she knew Sims since the AARP volunteer had moved into the apartment complex a year and a half ago.

Has anyone heard about the story on CNN or MSMBC? If they have aired any news I have missed it. Is the media ignoring this story?

(18,633 posts)TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Aaron Glee Jr. confessed several times that he kidnapped and killed Oluwatoyin Salau, a student and protester, and Victoria Sims, a volunteer and retired state worker, in grisly crimes that have horrified the community.
According to newly released court documents, Glee waived his right to remain silent and gave his account of events to officers with the Tallahassee Police Department and the Orlando Police Department.
They include shocking new details, including that Glee kept Salau a prisoner in his run-down home for several days, raping her and eventually deciding to kill her to avoid getting caught.
The documents also reveal that Salau, 19, and Sims, 75, apparently met each other in the last days of their lives, after Glee arranged for Sims to pick him and Salau up at a bus stop.
