Following a massive cell phone service outage that affected hundreds of thousands T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint customers on Monday, that hacktivist group Anonymous tweeted that it was a result of a major DDoS attack.
DDoS, which is short for Distributed Denial of Service Attack, is an attempt to make an online service unavailable by overwhelming it with traffic from multiple sources. They target a wide variety of important resources, from banks to news websites, flooding it with too much information to operate, and forcing a major challenge to customers or people wanting to publish or access important information.
Anonymous tweeted out a digital map that appeared to show the various types of attacks happening between America and the rest of the world on Monday.

Things have been slow and glitchy for the last couple of hours here in NM. This explains a lot.

(6,457 posts)I told her I think the Trumpsters have something to do with this because of Tucker Carlson on Fox News. He was making some very disparaging racist type remarks that caused T-Mobile and other advertisers to pull out of his program. T-Mobile also made some remarks back to Tucker as "Goodbye Tucker" meaning he will be gone soon. I think the Trumpers are pissed that the advertisers are talking back to the administration instead of just going away quietly.
My friend was complaining about messages not getting through and then we were suddenly disconnected. Makes sense now.

(32,701 posts)it was due to trump trying to intercept calls that mentioned protests. Every time certain words were mentioned, the signal immediately dropped. Not kidding, unfortunately.

My link suggested the Chinese were responsible. We'll see, unless Moxcow Mitch blocks announcing the culprit.
