Fauci admits no mask order because there weren't enough!

https://thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/prevention-cures/502890-fauci-why-the-public-wasnt-told-to-wear-masks

He also acknowledged that masks were initially not recommended to the general public so that first responders wouldn’t feel the strain of a shortage of PPE.

He explained that public health experts "were concerned the public health community, and many people were saying this, were concerned that it was at a time when personal protective equipment, including the N95 masks and the surgical masks, were in very short supply.”

By early April, the Strategic National Stockpile had been depleted, and around the same time President Trump invoked the Defense Production Act to have manufacturing chains across the U.S. focus on making vital medical equipment such as ventilators and masks.

misinformation, and they lost a lot of credibility with that

They are better supplied, but still far from ideal in PPE, and I am skeptical that they are preparing for a possible second wave in the fall

NEVER argue a lie to achieve a goal. The public will never believe you when the lie no longer serves its purpose and you need them to reject the lie for public health reasons.

I am convinced that lie is the primary reason Ohio is not able to buck public sentiment and require masks - and the reason only approximately 40% of Ohioans are currently wearing masks.

My experience with the non-mask ethos is that it is largely an anti-science (virus hoax, no worse than the flu, exaggerated numbers and mortality), anti-government ('can't tell me!'), center of the universe ('I'm young, why should I have to ..') kind of thing. And .. even more disheartening .. it's actually devolved down to the level of tribalism and polar politics in many places. Snowflake liberals vs real 'Muricans. I've rarely ever heard the issue debated down at the level of whether they were effective protection .. or recommended.

I actually see a lot of overlap, in the sense of argument construct, with the anti-seatbelt Luddites. Thankfully subsiding, or slowly dying out. (Just driving to the store -- Won't happen to me -- Even if it does, it's my life ..! -- Government needs to stay the hell ..!)

who had switched from believing it was made up to actively speaking out on social media against people who were not following the earlier restrictions, who switched back - and are expressly citing the mask requirement as one of the triggers for their change.

The government told them masks were ineffective (and that COVID 19 was increasing exponentially). They had come around to believing both. Then when Ohio started to open up they initially required a mask - after telling them that masks were ineffective.

I'm basing this on direct communications with people I know who - after complying with and advocating for restrictions - rebelled at the mask requirement (and are bootstrapping it into believing nothing the government tells them)

were needed by health care workers. Kept waiting for "Now we are manufacturing for public and they will be free to pick up at x locations". But that never happened. Then they started saying only one side needed... If you had infection. That made zero sense too... Especially since they knew you were contagious with no symptoms.

You know, this is a HUGE campaign issue. Gotta pick some lanes.

despicable.

There are so many huge examples of his utter disregard for the well being of the public. This subject was huge during original impeachment discussions by founders.

I’m not a good enough seamstress to make masks to donate, but once it became obvious that the box of 50 surgical masks I already owned was not going to be enough, I started watching YouTube videos and dug out my Tiny Tailor mending machine. Been refining the technique until I can honestly say I prefer the masks that I’ve made to the masks I’ve bought.

because we are not going out. I wear one while dropping mail in the box across the street and when mowing the lawn. Then I wash it.
The ones I've made are two layered and can have a filter slipped between the layers.
I prefer them to the bought ones too.
We have to take care of ourselves.

Liar. Negligent Homicide. Where's the old "60 Minutes" when you need them?

There was a time he was the hero of the country. Funny how he could have chosen trump/his job over the truth...and now trump has disowned him. Karma.
