It really is tragic we don't have a real leader as president during a public health crisis.
We have someone who contradicts his own government's health recommendations at every turn. It's hard enough to get people to sacrifice for the common good by wearing masks and social distancing, and then you have President Fuckhead who decides to pack tens of thousands of people into an arena for his circle jerk.
He wants to say just enough to give the appearance of a response to the virus, but then he wants to throw a bone to his base so that, in the case of continuing economic and social discontent, he can plausibly say, "I didn't want to do any of this! This is all the Democrats' fault!"
As a teacher, we are having hard discussions right now about what fall classes will look like, and how to modify in-person instruction if need be. It becomes that much harder to tell students, families, and staff about the strict hygiene and distancing protocol we'd need them to follow for in-person instruction to happen when you have a president doing all they can to counteract your argument.
It's been said many times, but Donald Trump is a weak man's idea of what a strong man looks like. We have to bust our asses and elect Biden this fall. Enough of this bullshit.
