The fact we are the sick men of the West is hardly a surprise
Summer 2020 is not going to be solved with lies, gaslighting and campaign slogans and that is all our leaders have. They spend their time signalling to their base because of power and privilege, while giving top jobs to incompetent and cruel white privileged males (and family members in Trumps case) because they kiss arse sufficiently and went to the right school, rather than because they have developed a competent skills set that might, you know, help run the country proficiently in a time of international crisis and chaos. I cannot point to anyone at our respective top tables who have exhibited any aptitude at all to run anything at all, never mind any of the great offices of state. Instead of demonstrating a commitment to addressing the real issues our countries face, they prefer to spend their time signalling their ideological purity to the fuckwits that voted for them. We need those who govern us to rise to the many challenges the world faces right now, and, instead we are stuck with a bunch of empty vessels who will do anything necessary to protect their power, rather than doing what is necessary to protect the people.
So as Mike Pence calls the American covid death toll a ‘cause for celebration’ – even while projections are that 200,000 will be dead by Autumn. And as Boris proclaims ‘Save Churchill's Statue’ in response to a whole generation coming out onto the streets to demand that systemic racism be dealt with, while our excess death rate in black communities is world leading and not in a good way, is it any wonder that based on the stats we are quite literally the sick men of the covid west? How did we get here? Oh, I know – people lost their fucking minds and voted in far-right wing wankers who have no clothes because of white is right dog whistle nasty on immigration and ‘exceptionalism’.
At least you get to vote Trump out in November. We are stuck with our bunch of Brexit crazy far right incompetent wankers for another 4 years. Oh goody.

It is far from 100% certain. My personal best guess is Trump will have some health crisis, real or imagined, and be off the ticket. Hope springs eternal...
