A Black teenager was found hanged outside an elementary school in a case Texas deputies are investigating as a suicide.

The teenage boy was found in a remote corner on Ehrhardt Elementary School property in Spring, and Harris County sheriff’s deputies said evidence points to suicide, reported the Houston Chronicle.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video, spoke to neighbors and examined other evidence that they said indicated the teen had killed himself.

I am skeptical these hangings are all suicides.

Do we believe it? That’s a problem. Their problem. They’ve done things to cause distrust. I’m not saying to release all 3 videos, but I’d say at least show the individual preparing or something. This is so hard to believe that we’ve had 3 in weeks. I want more proof myself.

Is it somebody who wants to commit suicide and thinks that hanging will get him a lot of posthumous attention, or a bunch of white guys who want to commit homicide and think that hanging will get them a lot of attention?

Part of the difficulty is that the pattern is something black against a white background. The background vanishes, but without it you don't have the pattern to be seen. So there are white hangings, as well, but they're backgrounded and vanished.

These reports are also to be seen in light of the "crisis" recently declared by somebody--suicides by blacks (mostly but not entirely African-Americans; immigrants also commit suicide) have been trending upwards for years. They're closing the gap with whites, but aren't at parity yet.

We are not the does all, ends all of humanity. Denis Miller nailed it, long ago before he went right wing, he said, (paraphrasing): "It's stupid to hate someone for the color of their skin, when if you spend just five minutes talking to them, you'll find plenty of valid reasons to hate them."

A sort of misanthrope's view of racism, I suppose, but it made me laugh, & there is an element of truth to it.
