High in the evidence folder is how Florida tried to doctor up the Coronavirus numbers so it looked like our percentage of cases fell within acceptable limits. They did this to look like they met criteria to begin Stage One of business openings.
What they did was a bold-face fraud, which is something that is common in Florida politics. Instead of comparing the number of cases to the number of tests given in a population, they gamed the process by bolstering the denominator by adding the number of anti-body testing with the number of tests given to determine if you have corona-virus.
I realize that this was what the CDC was doing wrong as well, but the CDC took their orders directly from the White House, and De Santis is a polyp in the sphincter that is the Trump Administration. It's like following the planning and implementation stages of a typical pro-business operation, which is why I give it a five out of five as a prima facie case for why government should not be run like a business.
The inevitable result has been to provide a feeding ground for a virus that is running amok in the population. This was to be expected. Our number of cases are going through the roof, but De Santis is still playing the numbers game to make the case that this is normal and expected. This is a reflection of the bullshitting that goes on in the business sector. Make a PowerPoint presentation and you can sell anything in this country, including policies that will bring us closer to an extinction event.
This has become a major health problem in our state and the only game we have left is to write down the delusional comments made by our leaders, who are pro-business.

(296 posts)the government like a business. And we all saw how that worked out. If you listen to Trump talk, everything (with the exceptions to handouts to the already wealthy) comes down to how much it costs. He cut funding for Meals on Wheels because it was a money loser. I guess keeping older people alive is just too expensive.
Apparently they cannot grasp the concept that the citizens of this country are not clients, customers, or subjects. Their job is to see that we have the best life possible in each of our own circumstances. Not to make it as economically impossible for us to eat, get educated, work, have families or just survive.

Transparency. Business doesn't operate quite as well in the light of day.
