He is struck in the back of the head by one of the counter-protesters with a police officer nearby, but no arrest was made. U.S. Sen. But the 80 or so expected demonstrators ended up dwarfed Sunday afternoon by some 700 counterprotesters — members of motorcycle gangs, “back the blue” groups and proponents of the Second Amendment, village officials said. Some carried rifles, a local news station reported, while others brought baseball bats and clubs. Police say they are investigating about 10 “incidents” from the clashes that followed, including one in which a demonstrator was punched in the head.

Breaks my heart that Republicans have divided our nation such that everyday people are now living in two distinct camps. With upcoming climate change, global pandemics, the potential for economic collapse and nothing really being done to reverse severe economic inequality, I can't be hopeful of our future.

I am however thankful for young protesters like Ryley that give us a ray of hope in the darkness.

That suggest to me they have an network that's almost certainly on social media which allows them to issue a call to arms to respond quickly to any event they don't like. Assembling 800 counter-protesters (many with guns) didn't happen by coincidence.

Not only did they intimidate and stoke fear into the small band of protesters, they also did so with that tiny local police force.

The clear aim of the right-wing and their helpmate Russia is to intimidate and to quench any dissension directed at their fascist dogma.

This is not even fucking logical, you could argue that during the recent De Jure end of Slavery (if we exclude imprisonment) in the 1960's with the civil rights movement that, the whites had a legitimate fear of the seat at the front of the bus might be taken and they may have to, God forbid, sit in back, or a fear that they may have to actually wait in line behind a Non-White person, in other words they had a legitimate worry, that some of their illegitimately gained white privilege, would be infringed upon. Of course they were evil racist fucking assholes, but it can be argued that some of their white privilege would be limited, definitely not gone, be legally limited.
