But I take no pride in it. The only thing that gives me any solace of the idea is that they died an ignoble death by disease in a prisoner of war camp.

Just because you have that history doesn't mean you have to live that history.

and Kentucky was a neutral State at the beginning of the civil war until a confederate general violated the states neutrality. After that Kentucky was a Union state and remained so for the rest of the war.

My ancestors are from Alabama, also. Many of them fought as Confederates, but fortunately my mother left the state and left the racism behind. Too bad Mitch didn't.

A descendant of a loser.

A descendant of a person who would rather enslave people than to advance the promise of the U.S. Constitution.

Like ancestor, like descendant.

My Union great grandfather fought with the Ohio 16th. I don't know how much fighting the soldier from Georgia did because he died of dysentery in Richmond KY a few weeks after joining. Don't know why he fought since he had no slaves. I guess he was fighting for Georgia. He left a six-year-old daughter, my mother's grandmother.

Guess I answered my own question.

Seriously though, I have not seen anyone ask that question. "Why would you not want the statues of people who fought AGAINST the United States out of places of honor in the Capitol of the United States?

Where is the statue of Benedict Arnold then? He actually fought for and won victories for the United States before he sided with the British. That is the same story as Confederate generals and yet one is a traitor for the rest of his life, while the others are venerated in our Capitol.

It isn't "airbrushing" the Capitol. It is removing the likenesses of people who do not belong there.

Yup! He was told of the Russian interference into the 2016 elections and kept it
hidden from the American public in order to rig the outcomes.

McConnell actively worked to allow an enemy of America subvert our democracy.

Russian shell companies contributed to all the republican senators, and they knew where the money was coming from.

Is that how that works? If your grand daddy was a traitor, maybe your daddy will be a traitor, then you might be one too?

It might skip a generation. I don't know much about McConnell's daddy. The treason bug sure did bite him though.
