China is suing the US for the right to dump their excess crap in the US market.
Guess where Congress and Obama stand on that?
http://news.yahoo.com/china-files-trade-case-against-washington-111202296.html BEIJING (AP) — China filed a World Trade Organization case Monday challenging U.S. anti-dumping measures on billions of dollars of kitchen appliances, paper and other goods, adding to worsening trade strains as global demand weakens. Beijing's move came shortly before the Obama administration filed its own WTO case accusing China of improperly subsidizing exports of automobiles and auto parts. China and the U.S. have clashed over complaints about market barriers and subsidies for goods including autos, solar panels, tires, steel and chicken. Political pressures on both sides are worsening as demand for their goods cools, raising the threat of job losses in export industries. As campaigning for the U.S. presidency intensifies ahead of a November vote, President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney have traded barbs on China, accusing each other of backing policies that would move American jobs overseas. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said its latest WTO complaint centers on the U.S. Congress's passage of a law this year that retroactively gave the Commerce Department power to impose anti-dumping duties on Chinese goods. That came after a U.S. court reversed earlier duties imposed under rules covering countries such as China and Vietnam that are deemed to be "non-market economies."

2. Isn't that what our agribusinesses do to emerging markets?
Dump all their surplus on third worlds, thus killing off native farms?

6. NY Times: U.S. Files WTO Trade Case Against China Over Cars. China files WTO case against the US.
U.S. Files Trade Case Against China Over Cars
The United States on Monday filed a broad trade case against China at the World Trade Organization, alleging unfair subsidies for exports of cars and auto parts. While China exports virtually no fully assembled cars to the United States, it has rapidly expanded exports to developing countries, and those exports compete to some extent with cars exported from or designed in the United States. In its W.T.O. filing, the United States accuses China of providing at least $1 billion worth of subsidies from 2009 to 2011 for worldwide exports of cars and auto parts. Hours after news of the American move began to circulate, but before the trade case was actually filed in Beijing, China’s commerce ministry announced in a statement on its Web site that it was filing its own W.T.O. case against the United States, alleging unfairness in how the United States calculates the penalty tariffs in anti-subsidy cases. Chinese officials strongly criticized Mr. Obama last winter for not blocking solar panel trade cases against China, accusing him of playing politics with trade. But as Mr. Romney has called for a more confrontational trade policy toward China, the state media have become highly critical in recent weeks of Mr. Romney as well. “It is rather ironic that a considerable portion of this China-battering politician’s wealth was actually obtained by doing business with Chinese companies before he entered politics,” Xinhua, the state-run news agency, said in a commentary Friday. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/18/business/global/us-files-wto-case-against-china-over-cars.html?pagewanted=all |

15. Europe, like America, lacked the spine to crack down hard.
Ever notice how China's tariffs and still-existing trade barriers never get circumvented or beaten?
China knows how to spine-up and take a hard line with their protectionist behavior... which is why they don't run the kind of trade deficits that America does. |
