(9,874 posts)They probably have articles ready to print right now, having read the book, but you won't see them until after publication because they sign an NDA with the publisher.

(58,785 posts)I agree with you but also believe Stuart is correct in seemingly believing the NYT's overarching goal will be damage control to protect Republican power. Some articles will protect their reputation. Others will use that as cover to subvert understanding.
Remember how just over a week before the 2016 election the NYT published a major summary article informing the world that the FBI had found nothing in their Trump-Russia investigation. That's just an example of a major article, in addition to others on top of years of consistently slanted daily coverage intended to influence elections across the nation for the Republicans. Same for the AP.

(82,849 posts)The book is done in between the covers. The way it works is publishers send out advance copies for review to media outlets and to book sellers for the big debut. Bolton's publisher Simon & Schuster had gotten that far when Trump filed his bogus lawsuit trying to exercise prior restraint of the book's publication.
Mark Sumner has some analysis from Daily Kos here.
The lawsuit was filed against Bolton only, trying to force Bolton to bear the trouble and expense of getting all those books back, rather than requiring Simon & Schuster to do that.
So yes, a lot of people already have a copy of Bolton's book in hand. Courts have been very reluctant to exercise prior restraint in situations like this (cf. The Pentagon Papers, arguably far more compromising of national security than anything Bolton has to say). But on the off chance some recently-appointed dumbass Federalist Society judge rules in favor of the administration, it's safer for these media outlets and book sellers to wait for the administration's lawsuit to get bounced.

(38,414 posts)First Amendment to ..U.S. Constitution: reads
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
wait a minute.....?? what does ....."NO LAW" mean? or "abridging the freedom of speech or of the press"
What does that last sentence mean?

ready to hear of the Republicans involvement in this. I want every last name to come out. Bolton can make enough to go to another country and live under a new name and take his family.

(17,471 posts)He can't put that genie back in the bottle. All over the country there are boxes and boxes of the books in warehouses and bookstore backrooms. Even if he pulled out a judicial hold, it will be out. It is now just a matter of how convenient it will be to read it.
While we will enjoy picking through Trump's dirty laundry, it will have no effect on Trump's loyal followers. Perhaps it will have some effect of the fence-sitters.
