Heads up for anyone coming to Fl Keys, new rule just announced

by Monroe County commissioners: Face masks are now required in all public places covered with a roof as well as appropriate social distancing. Those not complying will not be allowed entrance.

The Keys don’t play... at least not with morons.

Here in AZ parents are threatening to withdraw their kids when school starts up if masks are required.

We were able to keep our one main highway in to the Keys closed until June 1st, our local officers working their butts off at the entrance 24/7. We knew that all of Miami would overwhelm our beaches and parks with sheer numbers otherwise, and our small community would be wiped out.
We were able to keep our numbers very low and without increase until June 1 when we were finally made to open. But now are numbers are swiftly climbing daily and so we decided that the tourists can come, but they must wear masks while interacting in closed public spaces.

5. Let them pull their kids out of school. They'll need to send them to private school or homeschool.

Losing even 5% of enrollment will result in teachers being laid off mid-year.

I'm 100% positive at the very least the cities of Houston and Dallas will follow shortly. Our evil governor Abbott has said he won't stop them, because he can't. They found the sweet spot and now own him on this issue.

I'm in Bexar County, I just assumed it was because we didn't threaten individuals and are going to cite businesses.

8. They're diving through a loophole in Abbots executive order he issued.

As usual, the Texas GOP sucked and left a loophole for the smart people to exploit for the good of the population.

Abbot said something silly about it like, paraphrasing: I'm glad they've finally figured out the intent of my order.

Edit to add: it applies statewide to anyone who wishes to use it. It's not reliant on local ordinances.

At least till this is over.
The state government does not appear to value the health and well being of it's own citizens or visitors.

Key West is the most laid back community I ever saw. I vacationed twice down there in 2002 and 2003.

Even the homeless people were nice, never asked for money, etc. They would just tell you stories.

Discourage the chickens in the streets, etc., because they want it to be jumping off point to Cuba when that opens up.

But it’s still so great.

I’m glad they’re serious about Covid-19.

Easiest thing in the world. Cheap and effective.

But because of the personality quirks of our current President, we can't even set out an agenda as modest as this.

So the country gets to suffer, Trump and his GOP drop in the polls, and everyone loses.

What a world.

About living there. Very community oriented and since there's one road in, the dummies can stay out if they don't like the choices.
