FLIPPABLE: Edgar Bernier for FL-HD83
My name is Edgar “EJ” Bernier and I’m running for Florida’s 83rd house district. This is my first time running for office, but I have been serving my community as a firefighter for the last 12 years and I am looking to bring that community focus to Tallahassee. I was raised on the Treasure Coast by blue-collar parents- my Mother worked in the service industry while my Father worked as a machinist. I live and work in St. Lucie county and call the Treasure Coast my home. Right after high school I followed my father’s footsteps and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served until I left with an honorable discharge. A few years later I enrolled in EMT school, finished my A.S. in Emergency Medical Services, and was hired by Saint Lucie County Fire District in 2008 where they sponsored me in the Fire Academy. I have been proudly serving my community as a Firefighter for the last 12 years. I have been blessed with three wonderful boys, Cody, who is 11 and resides with his mom in North Carolina, Matthew, who is 6 and Miles is 20 months old, who I am have in St. Lucie County with my wife Alise. In addition to being the most wonderful woman in the world, she is employed as a Speech Language Pathologist for St. Lucie Public Schools. Her passion in helping her students thrive is such an inspiration. I have been involved in politics for many years, mostly in volunteering for candidates I believe in, but I am driven to run for public office for the first time by my strong values. Values that I learned from my upbringing, and what I learned from serving my community. Values that include Standing up for working families like mine, and to all that see the Treasure Coast as home.
