All those republican senators knew that the money they were getting in '16
from the NRA was from Russia.

12. It's a good illustration that Trumpy has no morals, no regard for the law.

Trumpy, now confirmed by Bolton, has been selling his re-election to numerous foreign leaders in return for favors from him. GOPers were warned of the transactional nature of Trumpy's "working" style (more like his con-artist style). We've known for some time, but with less factual data to affirm this notion. Now we have it in full-blown glory. Trumpy has been violating federal law since his inauguration, without regret.

If they don't IMMEDIATELY come out and PUBLICLY condemn him as unfit, and COMMIT to putting him out of office, they are COMPLICIT, and they need to hang with him. Or hang separately.

6. Lamar! Now THAT'S exciting!

The GOP will suffer historic losses. And nothing will change THAT, either. (Except, perhaps, escalating panic, which may lead to the postponement or cancellation of the election BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE.

But Lamar(!) is wrong. Bolton's book may mean nothing to HIM, but it will have a longer lasting effect on millions of others. Bolton's revelations will cause the GOP balloon to leak. It will cause enthusiasm for re-election to wane. Bolton, for all of his idiosyncrasies, is a headliner in GOP circles. He's verifying the Dems' articles of impeachment. The GOP can no longer frame Trumpy's crimes as a Democratic fantasy. Their talking points are getting smaller.

Now, it's much more difficult to continue shining and buffing Trumpy's turds.

19. Agreed. Bolton is a headliner in Old Guard GOP circles, the traditionalists.

These are the votes Biden is hoping to peel away, or at least the ones he hopes will not vote for trump again. Traditionalists may not be fond of Democrats, but they are fond of their country. After Bolton's book, they won't even give trump a held nose vote. trump will lose them entirely, if he hasn't already.

Republicans were incredibly demoralized with Richard Nixon, Watergate, and his resignation. They needed Ronald Reagan to rebrand themselves.

And their takeaway? Not to acknowledge another transgression by another Republican no matter what.

It's that easy.

11. My theory is that the GOP knows, doesn't care, because the ones in power have used Trump as cover

while they work behind the scenes to consolidate as much power as they can, while they can. Not only Moscow Mitch who's madly working on loading benches, he's like the avatar for what they're all trying to accomplish at state and local levels as well. Vote suppression, regulatory rollbacks, budgetary cuts - whatever they can get done while Trump is stealing the headlines. Trump is a danger, yes - but even more dangerous IMO are all the Republicans working in his lumpy shadow.

Bolton was pals with a lot of them and he'd have told them about his adventures in the White House. The reason they didn't want to subpoena him is that they knew what he'd say and it would all be out in public. With that shit out in the open they'd have to vote to convict, and that would be bad for the GOP.

Lamar Alexander has been in Congress forever..

I can’t believe these long-timers would blow their legacy on Trump. He has to be holding something huge and bad over their heads.

What have you done, GOP?

If Senate Republicans wanted to know or cared about Trump's high crimes and misdemeanors, they would have conducted a trial. They didn't because they don't.

They don't care and nothing he would do could make them care other than him attacking them personally. They don't give a shit about the country, just it's money and it's moneymen, including themselves. The rest of us and our laws are nothing to them.
