strategic move. But I'm ok with that. C'mon Dems. No purity tests please! That gets us nowhere!

AND I AM SO DOWN FOR A POC ON OUR TICKET! I HAVE ADVOCATED FOR THIS ALL ALONG. Not only is it well deserved and earned, but will motivate the vote.

As Zerlina Maxwell is now explaining to Lawrence!

If it so happens that a black woman is the best because she is able to help us heal (not because of her race/gender, but because of who she is as a person/politician), then she should be the choice. To say we are picking you because you are black is insulting to that person and everyone else for that matter.

That's the solution is to practice reverse discrimination and pick someone because of their race and gender?
The solution is not to exclude different people, but to say we are finally going to consider black women and give them a fair chance at the position.
Then we can say we chose our VP candidate because she was the best and happened to be a black woman, not because she was a black woman (implication being she was not the best)

Given the current political climate , there's nothing wrong with limiting the field to black women. It's understood that those being seriously considered are qualified.

I am very happy with Biden's narrowed selection. Any one of them would be a great VP and eventual president.

McCain was rightfully criticized for picking Sarah Palin (because she was a young woman) despite her lack of credentials, but even she was the governor of a state. Abrams hasn't held statewide office or been elected to a national office.

Being a woman and/or a person of color and having that experience allows you to speak to issues important to women and people of color in a more meaningful and authentic way.

No one is saying that race or gender is the only reason for picking a black woman as VP. You have to be extremely accomplished to have even made it into this group of potential VP picks and that goes double or triple if you are a woman of color. We are lucky that we have several excellent options.

All the ladies of color being considered are special in their own right, but in my mind only Ms. Harris and Ms. Rice are actually qualified at this time to BE president on day one.

Amy has enough indications at this point.

If I were Lawrence O'Donnell I would have responded to Amy immediately along those lines. Many old time journalists would have done exactly that. You are supposed to honor your profession and the intelligence/instincts of your audience.

They are the Party of Selfishness.
