General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIt's after midnight and I'm bored, so I'll start another thread about Harris...
She was my first choice in the primaries. I admired how she could be all business and bore down questioning a witness or making point about legislation and later that afternoon be all smiles and giggles over puppies and kids. None of it phony posturing or playing a part, either. I may be yelled at for this, but I saw her as the perfect replacement for Michelle Obama-- a Michelle who wanted to stay in the game.
I have little doubt that she will fill Joe's shoes should tragedy happen, and she will be well placed to run for the White House in '14.
I see Susan Rice as the obvious choice for State, and Warren in any one of several cabinet positions.
And Amy K? Attorney General? Sitting in the wings for '14 or later?

(54,370 posts)That'll REALLY put it to the ageist crowd when we nominate a 150 year old candidate for president!

But agree about Susan Rice. If not VP she will get sec of state.

(1,184 posts)If Warren is not selected as VP, I don't see her in the Cabinet. She's a very powerful voice in the Senate. I'm sure there are lots of qualified people who can be Secretary of Treasury or Labor without us losing an important legislator.

I also think Stacey Abrams is still in the mix.

(24,728 posts)She's tough as nails but always looks like she's having a great time. Like she would be so fun to hang out with.
When she isn't biting things off and spitting them out!
Although she probably enjoys that too!
She would also be a fabulous AG! She can sign the orders incarcerating drumpf and barr.
Smart women are the best!

(25,481 posts)She radiates strength and intelligence and confidence with a twinkle in her eyes. She has a sort of animal magnetism.

(63,221 posts)With everything you have said. She is by far the most charismatic candidate in the running. I think Joe needs someone like that right now.

(62,411 posts)She is one of those people who attracts people.
I spent the primaries literally torn between Warren and Harris. Now I am torn between Duckworth and Harris for VP.
The big reason I am split is that i would love to see Harris leading the Senate. She is smart and powerful, I think she would make a GREAT senate majority leader.

(4,164 posts)I also wanted both in the Senate. Since Massachusetts has a R Governor who would pick Warren's replacement I leaned more to Harris.

(88 posts)Either as VP or AG. Abrams would also be a good choice for VP. We need Warren in the Senate more than we need her as VP. Amy Klobuchar seems like a decent enough person but I don't see that she is any more qualified for VP than any one else. She is very much a centrist, which does nothing to excite our base and I don't see her as a strong leader should something happen to President Biden.
As for the rest of Biden's Cabinet, I nominate Robert Reich for Labor Sec. He is very much on the side of Labor, a necessary prerequisite for that post, as far as I'm concerned. If we are going to have a Dept. of Labor, the head of the department should not be someone who is indifferent, or even opposed, to the needs of Labor, as has happened all too frequently in the past.
For Treasury, I believe either Paul Krugman or Joseph Stiglitz would be excellent choices.
If Harris gets tapped for VP, for AG I would suggest either (former Deputy AG under Obama) Sally Yates, Rep. Adam Schiff or Rep. Eric Swalwell.
Susan Rice would be an excellent choice for State.

(43,181 posts)Not just because first and foremost she is well qualified for that position, but also because it would free up a Senate spot in Minnesota and allow an opportunity for a certain former Minnesota Senator to get his job back.

(11,561 posts)She did well in the primary and could easily step into Joes shoes in a heartbeat. Im afraid the prosecutor angle would be an issue for Harris in the general. The media can be brutal.

(561 posts)Yates is more than qualified, and her appointment would drive Trump crazy since he fired her, something she did not deserve. Really would like to see Harris as VP, she'd make an excellent "understudy" ready to take charge if something happened to Joe.

(47,476 posts)Biden is a low key candidate - which is part of his appeal.
Harris, Rice, Abrams will overshadow him.
If the running mate is going to be a woman of color, I prefer Val Demings or Atlanta's Keisha Lance Bottoms
I think that Harris will be a great AG.
I think that Klobuchar would be a great Supreme Court Justice, especially if the next opening would be that of RBG.

It is the breezy appeal of fantasy football. And the result or covid stir craziness. And the please get that freak out of the white house before something worse happens disorder.
