GOP fears Biden's low-key campaign is paying off

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/503485-gop-fears-bidens-low-key-campaign-is-paying-off

Biden has, for the most part, kept a low profile throughout the coronavirus pandemic and weeks of demonstrations for racial justice across the country. Over that time, Biden has built up a healthy lead in the polls and emerged as the heavy favorite for now to be the next president.

Meanwhile, Republicans have watched with growing alarm as President Trump’s polling numbers have fallen to frightening new lows for an incumbent.

The Trump campaign is desperate to draw Biden into the fray, believing the gaffe-prone former vice president would make some potentially game-changing mistakes during unscripted moments in the public eye.

-snip-

The Trump campaign has been keeping a daily count since Biden’s last press conference and is sending suggested questions to reporters to ask the Biden campaign.

Awww, poor scared Rethugs...

As the final paragraph of the article says, quoting a Democratic strategist: Trump keeps making self-inflicted errors, and this election is a referendum on Trump.

Usually attributed to Napoleon, but I'm sure it shows up in Sun Tzu's Art of War, too.

Why would Biden try to seize the spotlight when the harsh light of reality was illuminating Trump's flaws so well?

Any person not named trump on the ballot is getting 55% of the vote from the get go.

trump and trumpism have a limited appeal to racists and mouth breathing troglodytes.

Few weeks ago, read an article quoting GOP pols that basically said that if Biden does nothing until the election, it's probably over.

Biden has had interviews - many long enough for complex answers and for Biden to show who he is - as a potential President and as a compassionate person. I hope that his answer to "no press conferences" is to increase the number of one to one interviews by the media. By their nature, they are less confrontation and allow him to better get his message out.

Of course, the Republicans will parse every answer given and try to find an answer, a partial answer or even pat of a sentence where a clause not taken by the Republicans alters the meaning. This is what they do. However, Biden is very comfortable in who he is. He did not "need" to be President, he already had the accomplishments of a successful VP, entrusted by his President with many important, complex issues. He ran because he - and many others - felt that that the country, internationally and domestically, was in such a mess that a President, who was a known - and well respected - quantity to world leaders and who was the lead on making the stimulus package work was the best alternative.

Biden's comfort in who he is and the fact that he is and is seen as a good person will enable him to blow off misstatements - especially ones that completely ignore context to make a non remarkable comment controversial. Not to mention, with Trump spewing hate, lies and angry rhetoric many times a day, a conversation with Biden may seem like a peaceful oasis.

If Republicans sat down and listened to 5 minutes of Trump, then listened to 5 minutes of Biden, they would find themselves calm and relaxed at the end. It is quite a contrast between anxiety and calm...like listening to thunder/lightning and gentle rain.

Every tweet is negative ad in of itself.

Opposition research against Trump are in books, interviews, and quotes from his top national security appointees and chief of staff.

He has failed to lead America through crisises currently on-going.

He riles up the opposition against him moreso than he gets his own based excited.

In his 4 years as president, he's done absolutely nothing to expand his base of support.

Biden's best strategy at this point is just to let Trump drown.

The Russian Generals had an epiphany. They won.

So they disengaged the battlefield, retreated and waited. Let Napoleon take Moscow and watch everything crumble around him. Then Napoleon realized, he lost. He captured Moscow, but the price was too high and couldn't hold it. And then began his retreat...which was constantly harassed by the Russian Army.

Biden is watching Trump crumble.
