It's not that black people don't want or aren't motivated to vote. But voting is much harder for many of us than it is for many, if not most white folk, no matter how committed we are.

We're going to need to give aunties and grannies and church sisters plenty of reason to stand in line for hours.

They will surely stand in line as long as it takes if it means voting for a black woman for vice president.

And please don't say "if beating Trump isn't enough to motivate them to vote, then I don't know what ..." I know too many white folk who are threatening not to vote for the dumbest reasons - and none of them include being worn down by racist voter suppression to have the energy to stand in a line all-day and into the night just to vote ...

2. Relatives do all you can. Take portable chairs and water to help older voters.

The racists will of course close polling places in black and brown communities, put few voting machines in them and some of them will be broken or won't have power cords—in other words, all the dirty tricks in their playbooks will be unleashed on us.

But we will persist. We must. trump must be beaten.
