This month Trump decided to resume his mass rallies starting in Tulsa, less than a mile from the site of the infamous 1919 race massacre there—and originally scheduled it for Juneteenth. The venue is an enclosed arena, although the spike in COVID cases there raised questions about his motivations. We know he misses the energy of his crowds, and that Oklahoma is one of the reddest states in the union. But there’s another strategic reason for propelling the rallies forward.

Trump needs them to propel the “juggernaut” 2020 Trump mobile app that campaign manager Brad Parscale has boasted about, that uses a service called geofencing to send messages to smartphone users in a given location, then track their locations and access their address books.

The plan is to harness the enthusiasm of the rally to get thousands of attendees to download the app, which requires them to enter their phone numbers and zip codes, and urges them to provide their email and home addresses as well. Parscale explained to CNN that once this information is provided, the campaign can combine it with the voter file from the Republican National Committee. This enhances the campaign’s ability to microtarget voters—that is, engage them on multiple communications platforms with tailored messages based on their specific concerns.

Direct, targeted mass propaganda and data collection. A nice, easy way to send out lies...

The Trump campaign is launching its own social networking app to mobilize 'the army of Trump' for 2020

And ego inflation! Not to mention lack of concern about public health! Like we learned about the "Facebag"/Cambridge Analytica scandal, having "supporters" isn't enough, they feel the need to subliminally insinuate themselves into their lives!

Trump gets an all-Trump channel. It could be his future

snip.....
Not only is the campaign able to test an audience and gather valuable data from supporters for a future product. Trump doesn’t have to pay for it.

Snip.......

The Trump campaign did not respond to a question about whether the online channel might fit into Trump’s future plans, or how he might use personal data gathered about supporters who sign up to watch.

Campaign officials said the shows, most of which debuted in April and May, draw an average audience of more than 1 million views on multiple digital platforms. Public Facebook data confirm that many of the shows have drawn audiences near or above 1 million.

Snip...

Was Cambridge Analytica all just a dream? This is some crazy level of target "marketing" .

Whether Chump continues as the "head" or not, they're creating a path for the next Chumplette to take over.

They already know that Chump will lose in November, but Parscale's plan is to keep the big $ donations rolling in for the next election. Gotta keep up with the payments on the Lamborghini somehow!

He didn’t really expect to ‘win’ the presidency. He wanted an adoring audience, the chance to spew hate non-stop, and all that sweet moron cash. He saw Limbaugh and Carson and Hannity raking in money in what he probably thought would be an easy job. Just sit on your ass for hours and run your foul mouth. And all the endorsements for snake oil bullshit.

But given how his speech has deteriorated, he would have failed at that too.

I have no doubt that Dump and his evil spawn are planning some sort of tv or radio future for their corrupt empire once they are evicted from all polite society. I don’t see how any of them can go back to their pre-2016 lives. They would be harassed mercilessly in New York. The dipshits on the extreme right will be the only people who will have anything to do with them. And Dump truly despises those people. His future life is gonna’ suck.

everything is geared toward a "product". The rest of it is just crap on the floor.

The play is moving quickly to the final act. There will not be a freedom encore. It looks like Frank Zappa was correct.

Frank Zappa
“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.”

tracking supporters in order to provide messaging to them.

But what about the potential to use a program like this to track followers of political opponents? To know who the opposing citizens, - aka the "enemy" - are and where they live? Instead of a rally like Tulsa for getting people to download an app, they could use a link at various sites to lure people into opening it to the app.

"Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think...."

Can't help but think of 1984.................

That, and the company that showed a map of people's cell phones who attended a spring break beach party in Florida, and then showed us using a picture of their tracking software that showed us where all the cell phones went after attending that party. It basically showed the mobility of people who in turn aided the spread of the virus.

Am I the only one who's hoping some open minded environmental scientist is ear tagging these Tulsa Trumpanzees like arctic caribou so we can trace their movements from space?

I believe it's in the National Interest to track the spread of the COVID-19 virus. (Also, for the inevitable lawsuits to follow from the innocents their stupidity injures.)

Hey, it's for SCIENCE! for crying out loud.

Seriously.

or maybe a FOIA data dump from their own app... There's justice for you.

One problem with this is that you have many of the same people attending Trump's
Bund Rallies. They are like really stupid "dead heads" who followed the Grateful Dead
around the world except they don't get to hear good music, smoke dope, and twirl dance.

Amazon (each as representative of many) have our information already, and of course Bill Barre.

A huge, and hugely envied, database of information on anyone who might be a Sanders supporter or anti-Democrat was what enabled Bernie Sanders to do as well as he has. It's why some of his ex-staffers stole, tried to steal, and/or get him to donate the whole thing to their wannabe revolutions (last I read, he stashed it in the care of the super PAC that helps reelect him to the senate).

And as we all know, if we don't block them, we give many groups permission to access our devices and even identify those we associate and share interests with.

What McConnell, Barre and cabal would do with their data files on each of us if they got the power they seek over our nation is so awful it's almost not worth taking time from fighting them to think about. Itm, they already screw over Trump's base every way they can. If we do our job, Trump'll be using this infiltration to try to get them to watch his TV show. And, who knows? Parscale may just be in prison. How long after they're out before Trump tosses this grifter who's skimmed off over $40M of HIS money (campaign donations) to the wolves?

The very people who, for decades, screeched about the government being "too intrusive", and knowing too much about their "private" information, are willingly handing it over to these assholes. They're paranoid about being followed, yet they're willingly telling them where they are. This after Parscale came out and flat-out said that this all just one big "data haul." These people are so fucking stupid, I can't stand it.
