Happy #FirstDayOfSummer! #OTD in 1979 President Carter held a ceremony to inaugurate the White House solar energy system. The 32 panels heated water until they were removed in '86. Solar water heaters returned to the roof in '02 & photovoltaic panels in '14. photo NAID 185516

President Carter stands close to the solar panels and points. A group of mostly men in suits looks on. A man with a camera is filming it. They are on the White House roof on a sunny day.
