All these never trumpers are complicit in electing trump in the first place. The Bill Kristols and Ann Navarros of the world....just remember them 10 years ago. They pushed a constant propaganda campaign along with others on the right to demonize Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Democrats in general....they never wanted to compromise and saw democrats as the enemy.....their biggest mistake was thinking that they could control the voters that they brainwashed to think that all Democrats were bad....they didnt realize that they literally pushed them to vote for a person like Trump
Hopefully they have seen the error of their ways when it comes to President Biden.

(3,572 posts)Ana Navarro says she voted for Clinton, despite her dislike of Hillary.
There was no way she was going to vote for Trump, and she knew that a third-party vote is a waste of time.

(11,728 posts)Which is to say, they will criticizes everything Biden does that is not strictly right wing.
The problem with conservatives and conservatism is that adherents do not understand or accept that the ideology is flawed. Conservatism will always fail because you cannot stop change and progress and that is what conservatism seeks to do. Liberalism has its own flaws, but the ideology is not set or stuck in a rigid structure like conservatism.
Adherents to conservatism never believe that conservatism has failed. They always say that the "leader" has failed conservatism. The Schmidt's, and Kristols', and Navarro's of the world are not saying that conservatism is wrong, they are saying that Trump is wrong and the GOP is wrong for following Trump. They live in a fantasy world where they think that following conservative ideology doesn't ALWAYS end up at someone like Trump leading the movement.
Liberalism, because it has difficulty defending itself against extremism, MAY lead to bad leaders, but conservatism is the heritage of monarchical and aristocratic traditions. It will ALWAYS lead to authoritarian rule.
Unfortunately, as long as they remain conservative, they will NEVER see the error of their ways.

(3,166 posts)They will never, ever admit that conservative ideas are wrong. Just like when Mia Love lost her House seat, she said something like Conservative ideas work. Oh yeah? WHERE do they work?? Youd think that if those ideas worked, there would be at least one country on this Earth that had implemented them, and that country should be one of the most successful, right?
I asked a friend of a friend on Facebook, whos always going on and on about how taxation is theft, to point me to a single successful country that had no income tax and low taxes of other types. Two of his examples were the Cayman Islands and Saudi Arabia. I pointed out to him that the Cayman Islands gets most of its revenue from taxing tourists and cruise ships, and that the government there owns Cayman Airlines. And of course, the government of Saudi Arabia owns all of the oil reserves in that country. I asked him if he supported the idea of countries owning businesses, and I was met with crickets, of course. 😆😆

Hold up the Confederate Flag-- and whine about "history"
Hell, a few of them might bring up the birth certificate again, and try to prove that the Bidens "covered up the real story."
Let's see--- the run of the mill cultists will revive "Free Republic".....and post pictures of themselves with their pet guns, and comments about "cold dead hands."
Somehow- not sure how- they will scream about Benghazi and "emails."
Pretty much the same old shit you have seen since Windows 3.1 came out, and everyone got AOL.

(8,445 posts)As long as there's honesty in the discourse, it's fine. That's what I believe democracy is supposed to be about.
But I have gotten to a point where I'm shocked when there's honesty coming out of a Republican's mouth, so we'll see what happens.

(37,158 posts)...return to the status quo ante-Trumpum. They may have to keep a lower profile for a while, but they want to go back to when everything was just fine. For them, that's the Bush administration.
If you listen to them talking among themselves, e.g., The Bulwark podcast, there's not a whole lot of soul-searching about how they went wrong. When they talk about how "Congress stopped working", they never get too specific about why. Because if they did break down the breakdown, all arrows would point at the Republicans. At them. They will always paint themselves as the reasonable people appalled by "the extremes on both sides." Which, after the election, will include Joe.
And none of them are trying to lead an insurgency from within their own party. None of them banged a gong to drum up support for William Weld. They're relying on us to do all the heavy lifting so they don't have to burn any bridges, at least not the ones they can shop their skills to. Where those bridges need a little repair work, they will lean hard and heavy on attacking Democrats and playing the "ZOMG! Socialism!" card to restore their cred.
There may be a tiny percentage, mostly on the periphery, who don't feel they can go return in good conscious. However, most of them will go back as soon as they think they've waited long enough for the smell of spray-on tan and hamberder farts to dissipate.

(32,679 posts)They were going apeshit with concerns and outrage before Obama was even inaugurated. But there weren't any hard feelings because at the end if the day, they helped Obama win the primaries and the general election.
So ya know what? I don't give a s*** if the never trumpers part ways when Biden is elected. I just want trump out, and if they can assist with that, then great!

The folks in The Lincoln Project have quite a way to go to match that.
Meanwhile, in the here and now, can we just get rid of DFT?
