Be kind to those horses, though. (and yeah, I know the jockies ARE--especially at this level of racing, but just hope it starts extending throughout the industry)

More and more folks are wising up to the horribly inhumane, cruel and downright barbaric practices that encompass the entire world of horse racing.

Animals should NEVER be used for 'sport' - it always results in their abuse.

I have 3 horses: ages 15, 25 and 27.

I will ALWAYS keep my horses unto death (have sold a couple; both did not end well).

The 25 year old Norwegian Fjord - Dozer, omg he's a cutie, still gets ridden regularly on trails by my husband. We now need to bute him (like ibuprofen) before rides. But he loves it. The 15 year old, Thunder, is a mongrel rascal and I LOVE him. So fun to ride and makes me laugh every day. The 27 year old is TB cross named Chili Pepper. True to her name - hot! and she taught me a lot. She is kind of a pain, mares, you know... But until the day we put her in the ground, she has a home here.

So much potential for abuse with horses - sometimes from ignorance. Add in profit motive, and it's a recipe for disaster.

Even before the pandemic, with all the horses dying at this track was something that I was speaking out against. I would not be sad at all if this place was bulldozed and turned into an apartment complex.

I know the horses were given dangerous diahretic medications prior to the races but that was about it.

I guess that's one of those things that just got lost in the news.
