(18,486 posts)she thanked him for raising a son like Beau who fought so hard for trans rights. Joe grabbed her shoulders, leaned in, looked her in the eye and said "WE mean that. WE mean that!" And then kissed the back of her hand and hugged her.
She said we once had a country where the vice president stood firmly for trans rights and now we have an administration with a president who attacks the people he was elected to serve

(7,820 posts)And told him how much it meant to her that Beau had supported Trans rights when he was AG of Delaware. Biden puts his hands on her shoulders, looked her in the eyes, and said We mean that It meant so much to her that the sitting VP would take the time- at that time- to voice his support of Trans Rights.
Now we have Pence. ☹️

That's what I love about Joe Biden. He's so decent. In a long career like his, of course he's bound to say awkward things or present legislation that is flawed as times change, but he is on the side of marginalized people. Folks who don't have a voice. He sees the humanity in everyone, as opposed to the current asshole who loves to speak about broad swaths of Americans like they are vermin.
Joe Biden HAS to win this thing. I can't wait to have a kind America.
