Trump just said he had nothing to do with firing SDNY US Atty Berman!

On CNN they just now interviewed Trump who said he had nothing to do with firing Berman -- that it was the attorney general's decision. The Office of Legal Counsel opinion can be interpreted to mean that Berman can only be fired if the president fires him but Trump just said he had nothing to with it.

the US attorney in question was approved by the Senate.

This one wasn't, but was installed by the courts, so it is up in the air who can fire him, if anyone.

At any rate, it is absolutely not the AG's authority to fire.
