It's a beautiful afternoon in western NC. 6 mile hike in DuPont forest this AM.

The 2 dogs loved it. Spent hours in the garden this afternoon. Hammock nap with my wife of 40 years. Right now sipping Lagunitas imperial stout on the deck, about to continue reading Braiding Sweetgrass to my wife (a superb, important book).

Later, we will continue binge watching The Leftovers (HBO). Then I will answer gardening emails and head for bed. I'll check in here for a few min to get the news.

That's it. No TV, newspaper (just the Sunday NYT), radio. We don't want to reward networks and advertisers and FB Twit-ter for aiding and abetting much of what we see these days. Today is representative of all our days.

Trump will still be an asshole if you don't watch him. His cult will still be a brainless cult if you ignore them.

We get one life. Live it!

But, it's mostly for guests. I am ready to dump it.

One is a laggard, but it is not the Mexico Midget, which is the one I most want to succeed.

Thanks again for the starts!

Thanks for the reminder NRL. My life has been way out of balance in this regard, lately. I'm in addicted state right now, I'm afraid. I'm generally pretty balanced. Need to get it back.

Quick q about tomatoes? My husband is a fabulous grower and has been for years. A couple times however - including this year - he seems to have killed them off with too hot a manure.... chickens and horses. Even though it's composted! Does this square with your knowledge? Can you suggest a different plant that might appreciate all that nitrogen?

Thanks and your days sounds absolute lovely and like a template.

he and his wife made frajitas (?) for my fathers day brunch. They brought me two tee shirts with slogans about the Uwharrie National Forest.

I wish I was camping in them now.

Glad you got a chance to "Live it".
