To ensure that he had all the files protected from Barr's interference. I think that's what Preet Bharara did when Trumpie tried to fire him. Make sure the Executive Shredder can't sweep it all away.
Besides, now he can go testify for Jerry Nadler's J-committee on Wednesday.
