5. A Pathetic Excuse

First, he threatened violence against protestors doing bad things. They didn't do that, but if they had, they did not do a thing to stop it.
Second, given the actual evidence of confrontations, if the cultists were dissuaded by that, he's acknowledging they're sensitive snowflakes.
Either way, it's an excuse that is self-defeating.
