I've been proud of the youngsters using technology to prank the Trump campaign, but it doesn't explain the lack of an overflow crowd. It's possible the "Zoomers" reserved thousands--perhaps hundreds of thousands--of tickets, but ultimately only 6,200 people showed up for an event that was billed to possibly be in the millions.
So I've had a fun night and day, and I've been proud of the kids springing into action, but ultimately the reason this flopped is because Trump's campaign oversold expectations for a rally that was a bad idea to have in the first place. He is a disorganized mess, and America is tired of him.

(23,521 posts)because of covid (which they say is a hoax) or trump just isn't popular anymore or some teenagers just royally kicked his ass.
Which one does not make him look like a fool?
From the ticket pranks to overselling expectations to the Juneteenth snafu to members of his advance team getting Covid, it's been one big shitshow. It also happens the same week as Berman's firing and Bolton's interviews and book release.
If Donald Trump doesn't go down hard this November, God help our electoral system.

(5,122 posts)They are blaming the media and outside protesters at the event. None of this is true either.
There are 2 possible reasons that trump's people did not show.
1. They are growing tired of him like you said. - MSNBC interviewed a trumper after the rally last night, he said he came to hear trump talk about what he planned to do about economic recovery for farmers - sounded like he did not think tariffs was the way to go, he did not say it, but he sounded disappointed that he did not hear trump address this. I'm sure that he's not the only trumper exasperated that trump is not offering solutions. The name calling and bad "jokes" can only go but so far.
2. The other explanation - He may very well still have strong support HOWEVER, people are more concerned about Covid19. There may be online talk about not believing it to " own the libs", but in reality, people are not willing to take that chance, even if they still support trump. Which still should be concerning to trump - he's losing his grip on his base. They don't believe him on Covid19, that begs the question of will they start to doubt other things he's saying?

(25,201 posts)Let's say I wanted to go to this event, https://trumpstudents.org/convention but live in another state. By signing up, I get a notification (reminder) about the digital version of the event.
This is a no brainer..really....
It's just stupid that Trump was announcing that 800,000 people were going to be there.. Is Trump so stupid that he doesn't know how this works?
I wonder if his campaign said something like, "We got 800,000 RSVPs"
Trump: "So 800,000 are coming?"
Parscale: "Biggest data haul"
Campaign: "They have RSVP'd, but they live in North Dakota, Alabama, I don't think they are physically coming, but it's the biggest data haul ever"
Trump: "Can you fix that?"
I think the whole thing devolved with Trump's interpretation...

I wouldn't worry a ton about narratives, they are going to change daily with this guy, but thankfully, he's incapable it appears of coming up with a positive one, just new variations on the same negative themes.
