If you were trying to slay a monster---say, a vampire like Count Dracula---you would be

well advised not to underestimate his resilience or the power of pure evil. You would want to do anything and everything that might might permanently remove the menacing blood-sucker from your village.

So, if you had the capability, you would dump him out of his coffin-bed into the mid-day sun, shoot him with a silver bullet, hang a garlic necklace on him, press a crucifix onto his forehead AND----drive a stake through his heart. In short, you would take nothing for granted until you had watched him implode into a pile of dust and the wind had strewn that dust far and wide.

This is offered simply as a discussion of how one might deal with a fictional bogeyman, but if anyone believes it might have a political application, they are welcome to think of it in that way.
