Let's take a moment to talk about trumps racist use of "Kung flu"

Last edited Sun Jun 21, 2020, 11:11 PM - Edit history (1)

This racist bullshit came tumbling out of Donny Dumbfuck’s mouth in Tulsa. Of course the Emptysburg Address and 1/3 full rally overshadowed this latest racist nonsense.

But it shouldn’t.

The press should hound him on this.

You know he thought it would get a loud laugh and hoot and holler from the redneck rabble. So he waited until he he was in front of people before he debuted this outrage.

The press needs to, no, MUST ask Kaleigh MaInsane why did he use this racist term for covid-19? Was it funny? Does he think it’s funny? Does he think making racist jokes about a virus that has killed 120,000 AMERICANS in 4 months something to joke about?

This is absolutely unacceptable.

I want answers. This racist bullshit has to stop!

“We have 4% of the world’s population and 25% of the deaths.

Is that China’s fault?”

And the person just looks at me.

They are doing an exemplary job at management of the disease. However, if you have cases of Covid, you will have deaths from Covid. The leathality of this virus is not changed by the practice of wearing masks. Masks and contact tracing change the rate of spread, so that you will have fewer infections total. Once infected though, a certain percentage of those people are going to die. They must not be counting deaths with Covid as deaths from Covid.

27. Obesity rate

Jun 2020

Vietnam's obesity rate is the lowest in the world at 1%. If they had the same death rate as South Korea, you would expect 7 deaths from COVID-19. Maybe Vietnam missed them. Maybe just by chance, because these numbers are so low, only healthy people got infected. It may be a bit unlikely but it's not impossible at all.

So their numbers are not impossible. Vietnam did everything right in terms of bringing this under control. Closing the country, mandatory quarantines (not voluntary), quarantining entire blocks if a single infection was found, widespread mask wearing, extensive contact tracing, etc.

They controlled the outbreak without shutting down their economy, without closing factories and restaurants. How? Mass testing, contacting tracing and targeted quarantining of the ill. And universal mask wearing. It's not rocket science. https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/03/26/821688981/how-south-korea-reigned-in-the-outbreak-without-shutting-everything-down Not only did their testing program save their economy, it saved lives. They've lost only 280 people, we've lost 120,000, and we're still losing thousands every few days. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/coronavirus/ Granted we have 6.5 times the population of South Korea, but if we had done what they did, we'd have lost only about 6.5×280 or about 1,820 people, and our economy would not be in tatters.

I am so fucking sick of hearing that this death toll was inevitable, that it's not Trump's fault. The fact is Trump caused over 118,000 Covid-19 deaths in the US to date.

Just because they like it.

It is not normal.

It is not acceptable.

This kind of racist language cannot be normalized.

It’s not just “dog whistle” wink wink racism.

This is flat out racist bullshit.

I fully expect him to utter the n word prior to November.

And his apologists will say he is joking. Or misspoke.

He has the longest continuous up graph of infections than anywhere in the world.

I expect him to say stupid stuff, but we won’t bring the curve down until many months after he’s gone.

My God, he is the opposite of leadership. All the stuff he says along the way is just confirmation.

If he has said it before that is news to me. But to be fair I don't actually listen to him anyway. I can't change the channel or hit mute fast enough when he starts speaking.

So he may very well have said this bullshit before and I thankfully missed it.

“The president doesn’t,” McEnany shot back. “The president points to the fact that the origin of the virus is China. It’s a fair thing to point out as China tried to ridiculously rewrite history, ridiculously blames the coronavirus on American soldiers. This is what China is trying to do.”

“That’s what he’s saying by using the racist phrase ‘kung flu?'” Jiang asked. When McEnany referenced the place of the virus’ origin, Jiang reiterated, “What does he have to say to Asian Americans who are deeply offended and worry his use will lead to further attacks of discrimination?”

McEnany continued to deflect, blaming the Chinese government before calling out specific media organizations for their usage of the “Chinese virus.”

“The media blames President Trump for using the terms ‘china virus’ and ‘wuhan virus’ when they themselves have used these terms,” she said, before calling out the New York Times, Reuters, and other media organizations.
