If you'd downloaded it, Google wouldn't have anything to say about it, since it would be on your computer.

As to the weeing over copyright: I buy almost all my reading and the biggest part of my music in resale. How does that help the copyright holder?

9. The copyright holder receives their remuneration the first time the work was sold

A copyright is literally "the right to copy" meaning the copyright holder can reproduce the underlying work and sell the physical copy. Once the physical document is bought and paid for, that particular copy of the document is owned by the person who bought it and they can transfer it to others however they choose. They can't reproduce the underlying work - for example, they can't reprint the book or large portions of its content and sell it, but they can sell the physical item without violating the copyright laws.

The same thing goes for other items like paintings, records, etc.

It is fine. I know they took down from the site but many of us still have our copies.
