Lab experiments show how masks could protect against COVID-19

I know, the title of this article evokes an immediate "Duh!" if you're a snarky cynic like me.

But, I'm glad I read it anyway. Because the main takeaway for me was that it's primarily nasal cells that seem most vulnerable to initial infection.

So, now I'm asking myself: what if I start wearing noseplugs when I go out in public?!?

Of course, I'll do it under a mask, so I don't look like a weirdo. And because wearing a mask prevents outgoing transmission. But I've been concerned about my mask not protecting *me* from incoming virus.

I think I've found a viable compromise that I can live with.

about 1 in 3 I see with the mask below their nose, because it makes it easier to breath.

Half the store employees had their noses uncovered.

I have to admit, it is hotter than hell down here, and now summer humid.
But still....

as well as their mouths. I've seen a bunch of people on TV wearing masks with their noses uncovered and I thought it was dumb. I guess it's even dumber than I thought.

He makes a really good case that breathing through the mouth has a lot of negative health effects. Interesting read.
