(3,541 posts)That if Trump is re-elected, the nation will be ungovernable. I think Trump will need the U.S. Military to control the population, and that we will start an active phase of the second Civil War.

(18,539 posts)that the pop guns civilians own are no match for the tanks, bombers and drones of the US military.
It is one of the central arguments for the Second Amendment being obsolete. Any civilian attempt to fight against the government will be rolled over in a day

(3,541 posts)And I wasnt implying that...
I suspect that the military is 40% POC - and now, I think it is becoming apparent that the military has no plans to be Trumps faithful lover.
Civil War even in the shadows, does not restrict itself to just the civilian sector.
Post Vietnam - I think Ford was POTUS, there was discussions about the U.S. military going into Africa because the Cubans (medical support) were there, and that was unacceptable to the U.S. government. Now, its been a long time ago, but I do believe after that discussion became part of the military discussions - a nuclear carrier was sabotaged, the NORAD base in the Dakotas(?) ended up in a free-for-all in the mess hall; and I know for a fact that our company commander was relieved of duty after it was stated that we could start the war in the states.
Do not believe that any person has total control over this nation, without the consent of the governed.

(4,858 posts)...a low-mid level conflict of militias and endless assassinations. The regular army could find itself helpless in the face of such a situation, just like the British army was. This sort of war might indeed go on for years, decades, just like in Ireland...

(7,411 posts)Hurricane season is just getting warmed up.
In 2004, more than eight tropical cyclones brushed or struck the United States. Altogether, they added to more than $61 billion in damages. Four hurricanes struck Florida that year: Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne.
The 2005 five season was the most active in recorded history, with seven major hurricanes, four of which were Category 5. The season's grand total in damages was $171.7 billion.
Considering the current financial state, the civil unrest and the pandemic, having an Andrew or Katrina cut through the COVID-wracked southeast right now would greatly add to the atmosphere of destabilization.

(16,165 posts)and the real cost of foreclosures/evictions/job losses/hunger and healthcare come to the front, this country is not going to know what hit it.
the government seems to be dancing around all of the above instead of doing any planning for it.

I'm afraid the 2020 election will give rise to the ultimate demise of the US Constitution. The past four years have only set the stage.
